A 58-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in Alagoinhas, a city in Bahia, Brazil, on charges of sexually assaulting his seven children. The investigation began after one of the victims, now 19 years old, reported the abuse to the Bahia State Public Ministry (MP-BA), detailing that she had endured assaults from her father since the age of ten and that her siblings were also victims. The most recent incident reportedly occurred in February of this year. The young woman had previously refrained from reporting the abuse due to threats from the suspect.

In addition to the testimony of the 19-year-old victim, another one of the children, a 17-year-old girl, also came forward to the police, corroborating that she had suffered similar abuse at the hands of their father. The police were able to identify a total of seven victims, which included five girls between the ages of 12 and 19, and two boys.
