Esmeralda Pereyra López, a two-year-old girl, disappeared in Cosquín, Argentina, on Wednesday afternoon while playing near her home in a rural area of Córdoba province. The authorities swiftly activated the Alerta Sofía, a public notification system designed to disseminate information regarding missing children, urging the community to assist in finding the young girl. A devoted search operation was launched soon after her disappearance, involving both local law enforcement and volunteers from the area.

In her statements to El Doce TV, Esmeralda's mother, Tania, recounted the moments leading up to her daughter's disappearance, revealing that she did not realize Esmeralda had gone outside while she was engaged in activities in the kitchen. Tania mentioned the last time she saw her daughter, Esmeralda was playing with her six-year-old sibling and described her outfit as a grey bodysuit without any shoes. Notably, she mentioned that Esmeralda had just had her diaper changed, explaining her lack of clothing at that moment.
