Augstsprieguma tīkls plans to issue bonds worth 100 million euros
AST is considering issuing bonds amounting to 100 million euros, potentially in a green format, to invest in the modernization of its transmission network.
Augstsprieguma tīkls (AST) is planning to issue bonds totaling 100 million euros as part of its strategy to finance extensive upgrades to its electricity transmission network across Latvia. The decision regarding the bond issuance structure will be finalized after the completion of an evaluation and coordination process. For this bond issuance, Luminor bank has been chosen as the organizer, indicating the importance of proper financial structuring for the company’s ambitious investment goals.
The company has highlighted that its ten-year development plan necessitates significant investments aimed at ensuring continuous, secure, and sustainable electricity transmission throughout Latvia. This move reflects AST's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure to maintain reliability and efficiency in the face of growing energy demands and environmental considerations. The potential focus on green bonds also aligns with broader trends in sustainable finance, suggesting AST is looking to attract environmentally conscious investors.
In 2021, AST successfully entered the bond market and reports suggest that its revenue for 2024 is projected at 154 million euros, a slight decrease of 2.5% from the previous year. However, the company shows profitability with an expected profit of 14.76 million euros, marking an increase of 31.5% compared to the prior year's earnings. These figures indicate a growing financial health and operational resilience, reinforcing the strategic value of the upcoming bond issuance to support further advancements in Latvia's electricity infrastructure.
