Explosions in Nowovolynsk, a town located 5 km from the Polish border
Russian attacks hit Lviv and Odesa overnight, causing damage but no fatalities reported in Lviv.
On the night of March 18-19, Russian forces launched an assault on Lviv, Ukraine, where a hostile drone targeted the Main Intelligence Agency of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region. The regional military administrator, Maksym Kozitsky, reported significant damage from the attack, including shattered windows, but fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries. In addition to the administrative attack, drone fragments also fell in the city, prompting officials to warn the public against approaching any such debris due to the risk of explosion.
Simultaneously, Odesa experienced another night of bombardments, which resulted in damage to residential buildings and three reported injuries. The military head of the Odesa region, Serhiy Lysak, stated that a residential district was hit, affecting two tower blocks and causing destruction in the historical center of the city as well as private residences. The situation in Odesa highlights the continuing threats faced by urban civilians in the prolonged conflict, further complicating ordinary life and civic safety in the region.
These attacks reflect the urgent and ongoing military operations as well as the precarious living conditions for residents in Ukraine's western regions, especially those close to the border with Poland. As local authorities respond to both the damages and ongoing safety threats, international observers continue to monitor developments, understanding that these incidents signify a broader escalation in the conflict, with implications for regional security and humanitarian conditions.
