Do not panic for LPG booking, PNG connection will be available in 7 days... Government's statement
The Indian government reassures citizens amid fuel shortages, stating not to panic and that bookings for PNG connections will be fulfilled within a week.
Amid ongoing discussions about fuel shortages and panic around gas supply, the Indian government has responded with a cautionary statement regarding fraudulent activities targeting those in need. C. Senthil Rajan from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry warned the public about scammers sending deceptive messages disguised as gas bills, requesting sensitive banking information. He urged anyone receiving such messages to report them to the police immediately, highlighting the need for public vigilance in these challenging times.
Sujata Sharma, the Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry, reassured citizens that fuel stations will not run out of oil, and the government is making every effort to prevent supply shortages. High-ranking officials, including Rajesh K. Sinha from the Ministry of Shipping and Randhir Jaiswal from the Ministry of External Affairs, are closely monitoring the situation to ensure a steady supply chain from abroad. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the impact of ongoing shortages and instill confidence among the populace.
Furthermore, the government is shifting focus towards promoting the use of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) as a more sustainable alternative to LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). The Foreign Ministry, represented by Aseem, is part of this strategic initiative, encouraging citizens to transition to PNG, thereby reducing dependency on LPG. This shift not only addresses immediate fuel shortages but also reflects a broader commitment to long-term energy sustainability in India.
