E6 in Levanger closed due to accident – large amounts of hydraulic oil on the road
The E6 highway in Levanger is closed in both directions after a truck accident that caused a significant spillage of hydraulic oil on the road.
The E6 highway, located in Levanger between Skogn and Ronglan, has been shut down in both directions due to a truck accident. According to Carina Hollås, operations leader at Trøndelag police district, part of the truck collided with a bridge over the E6, causing significant damage and resulting in a large spillage of hydraulic oil on the roadway. First responders are currently on the scene working to manage the situation.
Authorities, including the fire department, are actively working to remove the damaged part of the truck that remains on the road, but the cleanup may take some time due to the considerable amount of hydraulic oil that has spilled. As a result, the E6 is expected to remain closed for an extended period while repairs and cleaning efforts are underway. Traffic is being rerouted, with detours established through Åsen via Hoklingen and using the old E6 for southbound traffic.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges and risks associated with heavy transport on Norway's roadways, particularly on major highways such as the E6, which is crucial for regional transportation. The swift response by emergency services and law enforcement will be vital in minimizing traffic disruption and ensuring safety for all road users as they navigate around the affected area.
