Five people arrested for the contracted murder of a man in Asturias

Five individuals have been arrested by the Guardia Civil for their involvement in a contract murder that occurred in Asturias last year.

The Guardia Civil has arrested five members of a criminal organization believed to be involved in the contracted assassination of a man in Lugo de Llanera, Asturias, on January 26 of last year. This operation was carried out with the assistance of the French Judicial Police and is part of an ongoing investigation into organized crime linked to drug trafficking. One of those arrested is the hitman who had traveled from France to carry out the murder and fled immediately after.

The authorities reported that the crime appeared to be well-planned from the outset, indicating a degree of sophistication in the operation. The victim, a 44-year-old man, was ambushed while sitting in his vehicle with two others near the Lugo train station shortly after midnight. The nature of the crime and the involvement of an international fugitive showcases the challenges law enforcement faces with cross-border organized crime.

These arrests may lead to further information about the broader criminal network operating in Asturias and its connections to drug trafficking. The case serves as a stark reminder of the violent lengths to which such organizations will go to eliminate individuals and how collaboration between international police forces is critical in tackling such issues effectively.
