Ilosaarirock will feature Eurovision songs, Norwegian metal, and folk music

Ilosaarirock has announced new performers for its upcoming festival, including Eurovision representatives and a mix of music genres.

The Ilosaarirock festival in Joensuu, Finland, has revealed new artists set to perform at its upcoming event in July. Notable mentions include Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen, who are set to represent Finland in the Euroviisut (Eurovision) competition, along with other returning acts like Nylon Beat and Ismo Alanko, both significant figures in the Finnish music scene. Additionally, Jaakko Kulta, a recently awarded artist, will also take the stage, representing the new generation of Finnish rock musicians.

The festival aims to diversify its musical offerings, promising a blend of genres, including folk music which will feature prominently this summer. Notable folk artists such as Aili Järvelä and the band Suistamon Sähkö, who performed at last year's Ilovaari event, are both confirmed for this year’s lineup. In a notable infusion of heavier music, Norwegian metal band Mayhem will also be gracing the Ilosaarirock stage, bringing darker musical themes to the festival atmosphere.

Ilosaarirock, known as Finland's second oldest rock festival, is managed by the non-profit Joensuun Popmuusikot ry. The festival continues to play a vital role in showcasing diverse talents and genres, significantly contributing to the cultural and musical landscape of Joensuu and beyond, while providing a platform for established and emerging artists alike.
