This is how your car can end up too. Polish police will drive a Mustang due to alcohol

Polish police have introduced stricter traffic laws, allowing the confiscation of vehicles from drunk drivers, exemplified by the recent case of a man whose Ford Mustang was seized after he was caught driving with excessive alcohol levels.

At the beginning of this year, Poland intensified its traffic regulations, which include the confiscation of cars from individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol. A notable instance illustrates the seriousness of these regulations; a police squad in the Mazovian Voivodeship publicly introduced a new patrol vehicle—a Ford Mustang GT—designed to catch reckless drivers. This move aligns with the country’s ongoing efforts to reduce alcohol-related traffic incidents.

A year ago, in April, police in the village of Ślubowo encountered a red Ford Mustang that had been abandoned in a ditch. Upon investigating, the officers discovered that the 39-year-old driver from Warsaw had a blood alcohol level exceeding two promille. The consequences of his misconduct were severe, as Polish law stipulates that drivers with a blood alcohol level above 1.5 promille not only face hefty fines and license suspensions but can also lose their vehicles, which are then forfeited to the state.

In this particular case, the driver lost his 2018 Mustang GT, valued by local media at significant sums, as the court ruled on the vehicle's confiscation in September of last year. This incident serves as a stark warning about the implications of drunk driving in Poland, emphasizing the government's hardline stance on such offenses and their impact on public safety.
