Housing construction is sluggish - A harsh figure has come: "Too high"
A recent survey indicates that 20% of construction professionals in Finland are considering changing careers, highlighting challenges in the housing construction sector.
According to a survey conducted by Stark, a chain that sells wood and building materials, 20% of construction professionals in Finland are currently contemplating a career change. Harri Päiväniemi, CEO of Stark, expressed concern over this figure, stating that while it may not seem large, it is still 'too high', given the industry's dependency on skilled professionals. The construction sector is known to be sensitive to economic trends and seasonal changes, which significantly affect employment rates in the industry.
The survey gathered responses from 2,932 industry professionals and aimed to gauge their perceptions regarding the future of the construction sector. Despite the career change considerations, many professionals remain surprisingly optimistic about the industry's future. According to the results, 48% of participants believe the situation will improve in the next six months, while 47% anticipate conditions will remain stable without significant changes.
This sentiment of optimism might reflect a cautious hope for recovery as the construction industry navigates the aftermath of economic fluctuations and seasonal demands. However, the underlying challenge of attracting and retaining skilled labor remains a critical concern, reinforcing the need for strategic initiatives to support professionals in the field and ensure that the construction sector can thrive moving forward.
