Sale of owner-occupied apartments continues at a high pace

The sale of apartments in Denmark has remained strong, with 1,761 owner-occupied apartments sold in February, marking a slight increase from the previous year despite a decrease in Copenhagen sales.

In Denmark, the sale of owner-occupied apartments has maintained a vigorous pace, particularly highlighted by the latest statistics showing that 1,761 units were sold in February. This sale figure is notable as it represents the second-highest number of sales recorded for the month of February by Boligsiden, indicating a robust housing market amidst fluctuating economic conditions. According to Birgit Daetz, the communication director and housing economist at Boligsiden, the sales for apartments have consistently remained high over the past year, with February showing a three percent increase compared to the same month last year.

While the overall trend remains positive, Copenhagen saw a slight decline in apartment sales during the same period. In February, 590 apartments were sold in the capital, a decrease from the previous year's figure of 631 sold in February. This decline in capital sales could suggest localized market variations that could be impacted by many factors, including rising prices or changing buyer preferences in urban centers. Meanwhile, sales figures for villas and townhouses remained unchanged, reflecting stability in that segment of the market.

The data released by Boligsiden not only showcases the trends within the Danish housing market but also emphasizes the continuing demand for owner-occupied apartments despite challenges. Given the ongoing dynamics of property sales and shifts in consumer behavior, analysts and potential homebuyers alike will be keenly watching housing market trends as they develop in the coming months.
