Pakistan is developing missiles capable of striking the US, major claim by US
The director of US national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, has warned Congress about Pakistan's missile program, highlighting the potential development of long-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching the US.
During a congressional intelligence hearing, Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, raised alarming concerns regarding Pakistan's missile program. According to US intelligence assessments, Pakistan may be in the process of developing long-range ballistic missiles, including intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), which could be capable of delivering both nuclear and conventional warheads directly to the United States. This assertion underscores a growing global defense threat as multiple nations, including Pakistan, enhance their missile capabilities.
The report indicates that nations such as Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan are advancing their missile systems significantly, raising the potential threat levels for the United States by 2035. Projections suggest that the number of missile threats could jump to over 16,000 from the current estimate of around 3,000. The report specifically highlights that China and Russia are viewed as the most active threats, while North Korea's cyber program continues to fund its weapons initiatives.
Gabbard emphasized that Pakistan's focus on developing long-range missiles necessitates serious attention due to their potential range, which could reach the American homeland. This development poses a significant strategic concern, reflecting the growing complexity and dangers in global military capabilities that could affect national and international security dynamics.
