A Florida suspect attempted to flee law enforcement by jumping into the Halifax River, leading to a paddleboard pursuit by officers from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Daytona Beach Shores police.
In a dramatic incident captured on bodycam video, 28-year-old Chase Cruz attempted to escape from law enforcement officers while being questioned in Volusia County. Officers from both the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Daytona Beach Shores police were conducting the questioning when Cruz suddenly bolted from them. Upon jumping into the river, Cruz prompted law enforcement officers to pursue him in an unconventional manner. Officers quickly grabbed paddleboards and entered the water to chase after him. The dramatic pursuit was documented and shared on social media, showing Cruz floating in the water while still wearing the blue hoodie he had on during the questioning.
