The government of Pernambuco, Brazil, has delineated a strategic investment plan aimed at bolstering its Fire Department in response to a recent incident where a fire in a utility store led to the destruction of four warehouses in Caruaru. This announcement was made on Wednesday, where officials highlighted that over R$ 280 million is allocated for investment in the year 2025. This substantial funding is being directed towards the acquisition of new equipment, vehicles, and the construction of a new headquarters to enhance the operational capabilities of the fire services within the region.

Francisco Cantarelli, the commander of the Fire Department of Pernambuco, emphasized the significance of this investment, labeling it a historical moment for the state. He reiterated that this financial commitment not only surpasses the R$ 280 million threshold in 2025 but also serves as a foundation for structural enhancements, including the establishment of a new station for the second fire brigade in Caruaru. The long-term plan includes 15 additional facilities across various regions of the state to ensure that fire emergency responses are effective and timely.

In addition to the infrastructural investments, the department anticipates receiving over 110 new vehicles to upgrade their service capabilities.
