Winter Does Not Want to Leave: These Boroughs Will Wake Up to Temperatures Ranging from 1 to 6°C This Thursday

A cold wave is expected to impact six boroughs in Mexico City with low temperatures on Thursday morning, prompting civil protection alerts.

As spring approaches, Mexico City is experiencing an uncharacteristic cold snap, with temperatures expected to drop significantly in several boroughs. The city's risk management and civil protection authority has issued a double alert for the regions affected by these weather conditions. The alerts indicate a potential risk to public safety due to low temperatures forecasted during the early hours of Thursday, March 19.

According to the latest reports, the borough of Tlalpan is under an Orange Alert, where temperatures are anticipated to fall between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius. This alert will be in effect primarily from 1:00 AM to 8:00 AM. In addition, a Yellow Alert has been issued for the boroughs of Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, and Xochimilco, with temperatures ranging from 4 to 6 degrees Celsius predicted in these areas during similar hours of the morning.

This unusual winter-like weather poses challenges as residents are caught off guard just days before the arrival of the spring equinox. The city's governmental agencies are urging citizens to take precautions to protect themselves and stay warm, highlighting the importance of being prepared for unexpected weather changes, even as the seasons transition.
