On Wednesday, a tense situation unfolded in Argentina's Chamber of Deputies when a suspicious package triggered security alarms after failing to pass through a security scanner. The incident occurred when an unusually sized box was delivered to the Annex of Congress, which raised immediate concerns among security personnel due to its contents.

Security staff quickly detained the package and reached out to the office of the intended recipient, Deputy Javier Sánchez Wrba of the PRO party, who was required to come down and clarify the situation. Upon inspection, Sánchez Wrba explained that the package contained a compressed air rifle he had purchased online from Mercado Libre, and due to a mix-up, it was sent to his congressional office instead of his home.

The deputy defended himself by stating that the item is not classified as a firearm and is legally sold without restrictions. He emphasized that the incident stemmed from a simple error and that he had no malicious intent, showcasing the complexities of security protocols in governmental institutions, especially regarding weapons, even if they are not firearms.
