Government increases purchase offer for Santa Casa to R$ 30 million after meeting with creditors in MT

The state government has raised its offer for the Santa Casa Hospital in Cuiabá to R$ 30 million following discussions with creditors who countered the previous offer of R$ 20 million.

The state government of Mato Grosso has increased its purchase proposal for the Santa Casa Hospital in Cuiabá to R$ 30 million after a crucial meeting with creditors. This decision follows the creditors' counterproposal in response to the initial offer of R$ 20 million, highlighting the ongoing financial struggles the hospital is facing. The sale of Santa Casa is a pressing matter due to its severe financial crisis linked to labor debts, which has put the facility’s operations at risk of closure.

The enhanced offer has been submitted to the Regional Labor Court of the 23rd Region (TRT-MT), which is overseeing the auction of the hospital property. The process involves various bidders; previously, the hospital had received several proposals, including one from the Instituto Evangelístico São Marcos in São Paulo, which was valued at R$ 40 million. However, this figure is still significantly below the minimum reserve price of R$ 78.2 million set for the auction.

In addition to the proposals from private entities, the city of Cuiabá has also entered the bidding process, reflecting the hospital's critical state and the competition to secure its future. The situation underscores the financial instability facing healthcare facilities in the region and raises questions about the sustainability of such institutions amid ongoing economic challenges. The outcome of the auction will not only affect the hospital staff and patients but also the broader healthcare landscape in the area.
