Roberta Luchsinger 'panicked' with envelope for Lulinha due to fear of exposure, says defense

Roberta Luchsinger's defense claims she panicked upon learning about a Federal Police operation involving an envelope linked to Fábio Luís, son of Brazilian President Lula.

Roberta Luchsinger's defense team has provided a new explanation regarding her communications with businessman Antônio Camilo, also known as Careca do INSS, concerning the disposal of mobile phones following a Federal Police operation. According to her attorney, Bruno Salles, Roberta was in a state of panic after realizing that the police had seized an envelope with the name of Fábio (Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, nicknamed Lulinha) in one of Careca's boxes. The fear stemmed from the inherent media exposure that comes with being associated with Fábio, who is the son of President Lula.

Salles elaborated that prior to knowing the contents of the envelope, Roberta expressed anxiety over its connection to Fábio, fearing potential backlash and public scrutiny. "She remarked, 'They found the envelope with our friend's name; it’s going to cause a problem.' Her close friendship with Fábio means she's acutely aware that anything associated with him could lead to significant media attention and misunderstanding. This, according to her defense, was a primary concern for her, prompting her to advise action regarding the phones.

The situation highlights the delicate balance of personal relationships with public figures in Brazil, especially within the context of ongoing investigations by law enforcement. The implications of Roberta's concerns extend beyond mere legal trouble; they reflect the intense public and media scrutiny surrounding figures linked to the current administration, raising questions about privacy and reputational risks in an already charged political environment.
