The southwestern United States is currently experiencing an unusually early heat wave, with the National Weather Service (NWS) warning that temperatures could soar between 20 and 30 degrees above the seasonal average. This extreme weather event has prompted heat alerts across several areas, including parts of southeast California, southern Nevada, and Arizona. The high temperatures are set to reach alarming levels, with forecasts predicting highs of 40 to 44 °C (104–112 °F) in some of the hottest desert regions, notably the Coachella Valley and the deserts of San Diego County, until March 22, with the peak expected around the 20th.
