Journalist: Seiska paid Panu Hörkkö over 100,000 euros upon termination – this is how Seiska and Hörkkö commented
The Finnish magazine Seiska compensated well-known paparazzo Panu Hörkkö over 100,000 euros when he left the publication, amidst allegations of previous inappropriate behavior by a newly hired freelancer.
Finnish publication, Journalisti, revealed new details surrounding the departure of prominent paparazzo Panu Hörkkö from Seiska magazine. The report indicates that during this transition, Seiska enlisted the help of a former employee who had been dismissed in 2019 for inappropriate conduct. This individual reportedly behaved inappropriately during an article assignment, where he booked only one hotel room for himself and a female interviewee, necessitating her to share a bed with him and fend off advances for a romantic relationship during the trip.
As per Journalisti’s findings, this former employee has increasingly contributed to Seiska's coverage since 2023, effectively filling the gap left by Hörkkö's exit in January. The magazine's reliance on this controversial figure raises concerns, especially given the background of his prior dismissal. In the competitive landscape of media, particularly for paparazzi-style assignments in Finland, there are not many reporters with similar expertise, indicating a scarcity of talent in this niche.
Ilta-Sanomat (IS) reached out to Seiska's editor-in-chief, Jyrki Huotari, for comments regarding the inappropriate behavior linked to the newly appointed freelancer. This matter reflects broader issues within the media regarding misconduct and the recruitment of individuals with questionable histories, raising questions about editorial standards and the impact on journalistic integrity at Seiska.
