Radio Suomipop is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a festive 25-hour broadcast that begins this Wednesday evening. The event will showcase several former hosts of the channel, including Jaajo Linnonmaa, Anni Ihamäki, Juha Vuorinen, Jenni Alexandrova, and Sami Kuronen, who will share their memories and experiences during the broadcast. This anniversary event is not only a celebration of the channel's history but also a reunion for listeners who have followed these personalities over the years.
Jaajo Linnonmaa, known for co-hosting the popular morning show Aamulypsy from 2006, has gained significant recognition and multiple awards for his work in radio, making him a prominent figure in Finnish media. Alongside Anni Ihamäki, he contributed greatly to the show's popularity, which won the title of Best Radio Program before going on an extended hiatus at the end of 2011. The program made a dynamic return in January 2013, captivating a loyal audience.
Both Linnonmaa and Ihamäki ceased their roles in the Aamulypsy show in December 2022 and have since ventured into television programs and podcasts. Their return for this special broadcast highlights the lasting impact of their early careers in radio, while also marking the evolution of media consumption in Finland, as traditional radio adapts to changing audience preferences and newer formats.
