The Prosecutor's Office Will Investigate Once Again Whether Krzysztof Kononowicz Was Abused
The Prosecutor's Office in Białystok has reopened an investigation into allegations of abuse against Krzysztof Kononowicz, who gained fame in 2006 during the Białystok mayoral elections and passed away in March 2025.
Krzysztof Kononowicz, a figure who rose to popularity during the 2006 Białystok mayoral elections and later became known for his YouTube presence, died in early March 2025 at the age of 62. Following his death, the Białystok-Południe District Prosecutor's Office initiated a probe into allegations of abuse directed at him. The move comes two months after his passing, sparked by multiple complaints from viewers of Kononowicz's videos which were recorded in his home.
The investigation centers around recordings posted from December 2022 to March 2025, which allegedly depict instances of mistreatment, including physical altercations among the residents of his home. Disturbing content was reported, such as Kononowicz opening packages containing feces and urine, and enduring verbal assaults from viewers through degrading letters. These accounts from individuals who viewed the footage suggest that Kononowicz might have been exploited due to his vulnerable mental state.
Previously, an earlier investigation into different content concerning Kononowicz's life was closed without action. However, the growing concern over the most recent videos has led the Prosecutor's Office to take another look at the circumstances surrounding his treatment and well-being prior to his death, reflecting broader issues of mental health and exploitation in media portrayals, particularly concerning vulnerable individuals.
