Repsol opens a price war and doubles discounts for its most loyal customers amid the escalation due to the war in Iran

Repsol is increasing discounts for loyal customers to mitigate the rising costs caused by the conflict in Iran.

Repsol, the leading Spanish oil company, has reinstated a commercial strategy reminiscent of its approach during the Ukraine war by doubling discounts for its most loyal customers. Starting from Saturday, March 21, until April 6, the company plans to offer increased savings to particular users and transport operators who utilize its payment and loyalty app, Waylet. This increase in discounts is a response to the escalating costs resulting from the ongoing conflict in Iran.

The oil giant has specifically calculated that users of the Waylet app, which is integrated at over 3,300 service stations across Spain, could now save up to 40 cents per liter of fuel, depending on their contracted energy services. This move aims to alleviate the financial strain on customers due to rising fuel prices spurred by geopolitical tensions, trying to retain their user base and support those heavily impacted by the cost of living.

Additionally, professional transporters and self-employed individuals using the Solred professional card will receive an extra discount of 5 cents per liter, further encouraging regular patronage of Repsol stations. This strategic decision highlights how companies are responding to fluctuating global oil prices and the external economic pressures affecting consumers, as well as Repsol's attempt to solidify its market position during challenging times.
