Police considers intentional poisoning unlikely in case of pizzeria investigated for food poisoning outbreak

Civil Police in Brazil deem it unlikely that the recent food poisoning outbreak linked to a pizzeria was the result of intentional poisoning.

The Civil Police in Brazil have declared it improbable that the food poisoning outbreak connected to a pizzeria in Pombal, Paraíba, was due to intentional poisoning. This conclusion was confirmed by the investigating officer, Delegate Rodrigo Barbosa, who noted that the nature of the case suggested otherwise. Several employees of the pizzeria fell ill after consuming the food on the same night, indicating that if there was any poisoning, it might have been accidental rather than malicious.

The investigation revealed concerning details, as approximately 110 individuals became ill, and one woman tragically lost her life due to the outbreak. Delegate Barbosa emphasized that while intentional poisoning seems unlikely, the police are still considering the possibility of accidental poisoning. One of the employees who handled the food reported symptoms within minutes of consumption, strengthening the argument that the food served might have been contaminated in some way without any malicious intent.

The police are continuing their investigation, and they have already spoken with one of the pizzeria's managers, who is the stepfather of the establishment's owner. The outcome of this inquiry may provide additional insights into the possible causes of the outbreak and reinforce the importance of food safety regulations in preventing such incidents in the future.
