Drivers' strike at Ricco: 30% of fleet not operating during rush hour in the capital, says union
Bus drivers in Rio Branco are on partial strike, leading to 30% of the fleet not operating during peak hours due to delayed salary payments.
Bus drivers for the collective transportation service in Rio Branco, Brazil, managed by Ricco Transportes e Turismo under an emergency contract for four years, have initiated a partial strike as of last Tuesday (17th). This action is a response to delays in salary payments affecting some of the drivers. According to the Union of Workers in Passenger and Cargo Transport in the State of Acre (Sinttpac), during peak hours (from 6 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM), only 70% of the fleet is operational, leaving 30% of the buses idle. Furthermore, during off-peak times, 50% of the buses operate while the other half is not in service.
