The sustained growth of passenger numbers in Ecuador's air transport sector is prompting international airlines to redefine their operations within the country. According to data from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC), from January to November 2025, 7.3 million passengers were transported within Ecuador's airport network, with 4.4 million of those being international flights. This international traffic represents a significant 60.8% share of total air travel, demonstrating a heightened demand among Ecuadorians to travel abroad. While the United States remains the top destination for Ecuadorian travelers, Europe continues to hold an important share, particularly with Spain as its main gateway.
