In the initial round of voting, Holz secured 38.5% of the votes while Schmid garnered 36.3%. The election reflects a division in voter preference, with Holz performing well in most of the 21 municipalities except for his home community of Kochel and nearby Schlehdorf, while Schmid made a strong showing in the northern part of the district, particularly in Geretsried and Wolfratshausen.
