The Eldar Riazanov Museum has announced the death of Nikolai Garo, a prominent actor best known for his roles in cult classic films such as 'The Prisoner of the Caucasus' and 'Kin-dza-dza!'. Garo made significant contributions to Soviet cinema and was a frequent collaborator with some of the era's most notable directors including Leonid Gaidai, Georgiy Daneliya, and Eldar Riazanov.

Born on December 3, 1937, Garo graduated from the economic faculty of VGIK and spent a substantial part of his career at the legendary Mosfilm studio. His extensive experience in acting later led him to production, and he eventually became the head of the film studio 'Luch' in 1995.

His passing marks the end of an era for many fans of Soviet cinema, as Garo's work has left a lasting impact on Russian film culture.
