A special program of Italian actress Claudia Cardinale will be shown in Tallinn and Tartu
In memory of the late Italian actress Claudia Cardinale, a special film program featuring five of her iconic films will be screened in Tallinn and Tartu.
Following the passing of Italian actress Claudia Cardinale last year, two cinemas in Estonia, Artis in Tallinn and Elektriteater in Tartu, will honor her memory with a special program showcasing five films that highlight her remarkable career. The program includes classic titles that not only showcase Cardinale's talent but also resonate with societal themes that remain relevant today.
One of the films in the program is "Kena Antonio" (Il bell'Antonio), directed by Mauro Bolognini in 1960, which is a critical drama exploring societal pressures and human dignity, featuring Cardinale alongside Marcello Mastroianni. This film, made decades ago, continues to speak to contemporary audiences about social issues, making it a timeless piece.
Another highlight is "Tüdruk kohvriga" (La ragazza con la valigia), directed by Valerio Zurlini in 1961, which tells the story of a young girl named Aida from a modest background who dreams of a better life only to face disillusionment. Cardinale's portrayal of Aida conveys profound inner longing for love and security, illustrating the emotional depth that made her performances so memorable. This special program serves not only as a tribute to her legacy but also as an opportunity for the Estonian audience to engage with classic cinema that addresses enduring social themes.
