PCC Chief in Ceará, Who Flaunted Weapons on Social Media, is Arrested in São Paulo

A man identified as the leader of a criminal organization in Ceará was arrested in São Paulo for allegedly leading drug trafficking operations.

Gilcivan dos Santos Paiva, a 32-year-old man known as 'C4' or 'Civan', was apprehended in Carapicuíba, São Paulo during a joint operation by security forces from both Ceará and São Paulo. He is linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), a notorious criminal gang in Brazil, and is accused of orchestrating crimes in Sobral, a city in the northern region of Ceará. The operation comes as a result of coordinated intelligence efforts between police departments from both states.

Investigators from the Organized Crime Combat Delegation of Northern Ceará (Draco Norte) discovered that 'C4' had been facilitating the shipment of drugs to the municipality of Sobral while residing in São Paulo. The integration of intelligence and information sharing allowed law enforcement agencies to track him down and execute an arrest warrant against him for his involvement in organized crime activities. The localization of 'C4' demonstrates the ongoing efforts of Brazilian authorities to combat organized crime that extends beyond state lines.

This arrest not only highlights the extensive operations of the PCC but also raises concerns about the reach of such criminal organizations across Brazil. With 'C4' boasting weapons on social media, this case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces with gangs that flaunt their power publicly. As authorities continue to crack down on crime syndicates, this operation may be a significant step towards diminishing the operational capacity of the PCC in the region and disrupting its drug trafficking networks.
