Two municipalities to receive over R$ 900 thousand from the federal government after floods in AC

The municipalities of Cruzeiro do Sul and Epitaciolândia in Acre, Brazil, will receive nearly R$ 970,800 for emergency civil defense actions following severe flooding.

The federal government of Brazil has authorized the release of R$ 970,789.40 to the municipalities of Cruzeiro do Sul and Epitaciolândia in Acre for emergency response to disasters caused by recent flooding. The announcement came from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, with official documentation published in the Diário Oficial da União. Cruzeiro do Sul is set to receive R$ 450,875.40, while Epitaciolândia will get R$ 519,914.00, enabling both towns to implement necessary civil defense measures in response to the crisis.

Earlier this year, Epitaciolândia experienced a recognized state of emergency due to heavy rains, which also affected the nearby town of Brasiléia. The federal government's acknowledgment of these emergencies reflects the seriousness of the environmental challenges facing the region. With the allocation of funds, local authorities are expected to act swiftly to mitigate the impacts of flooding and improve their preparedness for future natural disasters.

The financial aid is aimed at supporting immediate disaster response protocols as per the records maintained in the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD). This funding is critical for ensuring that the municipalities can effectively manage and address the repercussions of the flooding, focusing not only on disaster response but also on enhancing the resilience of the communities against future climatic adversities.
