Fire guts three buildings in Kano community
A fire in the Gaida area of Kano State has destroyed three residential buildings, originating from an electrical transformer site.
On Tuesday at approximately 11:05 a.m., a significant fire outbreak occurred in the Gaida area near Fatima Bread in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, resulting in the destruction of three residential buildings. The incident was reported by Aminu Bello, prompting a swift response from the Kano State Fire Service. Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the fire service, confirmed that multiple firefighters were dispatched to manage the situation immediately after the alarm was raised.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the source of the fire at an electrical transformer site, an open area measuring roughly 50 by 50 feet, which was already engulfed in flames. The fire's intensity and proximity to nearby structures allowed it to spread rapidly, ultimately affecting three residential buildings in the vicinity. In response to the incident, the personnel from the fire service took action to extinguish the flames and prevent further property damage.
The fire raising concerns about safety measures around electrical installations in residential areas highlights the importance of adequate fire prevention systems and public awareness regarding the risks associated with electricity. As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, local authorities may need to revisit existing regulations on transformer site management and ensure better safety measures to protect residential areas from similar incidents in the future.
