Fire in vegetation area in Vila Velha causes smoke seen in cities of Greater Vitória
A large fire broke out in a vegetation area in Jardim Marilândia, Vila Velha, causing smoke visible in neighboring cities of Greater Vitória.
On Tuesday afternoon, a significant fire erupted in a vegetation area located in Jardim Marilândia, Vila Velha, impacting the Greater Vitória region. Residents reported seeing a substantial column of smoke that was noticeable not just in Vila Velha but also in neighboring municipalities like Cariacica and Vitória. Fortunately, despite the fire's severity, there were no injuries reported among the residents.
The Corpo de Bombeiros Militar were dispatched around 4:20 PM to tackle the blaze, utilizing approximately 3,000 liters of water in their efforts to suppress the flames. The area affected by the fire is known to be a low-lying sandy region where such incidents are common due to illegal dumping practices that include the burning of materials like tires and wires, exacerbating fire risks.
This incident underscores ongoing environmental concerns surrounding illegal dumping and fire management in the region. Local authorities are faced with the challenge of preventing such fires and addressing the causes rooted in environmental negligence and community awareness. As this is not the first instance of fire in this area, it necessitates further measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents while preserving the local environment.
