Brazilian federal deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho and Pastor Gil were unanimously convicted by the Supreme Court for their involvement in a corruption scheme related to the allocation of parliamentary amendments.
On Tuesday, October 17, Brazil's Supreme Court (STF) unanimously convicted federal deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho and Pastor Gil, marking the conclusion of a federal investigation that began in 2020. This investigation centered around allegations of a bribery scheme tied to the distribution of public funds, particularly concerning the health sector in the municipality of São José de Ribamar. The case was prompted by a report from Eudes Sampaio, the former mayor of São José de Ribamar, who claimed he was coerced into paying approximately R$ 1.6 million to secure the allocation of about R$ 6.6 million in public health resources.
