Judge recognizes evidence of billion-dollar embezzlement at Banco Master and prevents asset transfer
A judge in São Paulo has issued a restraining order to prevent the transfer of assets connected to Banco Master amidst allegations of billion-dollar embezzlement involving the bank's controller, Daniel Vorcaro.
On Tuesday, the 17th, the 3rd Court of Bankruptcy and Judicial Recoveries in São Paulo granted an urgent injunction designed to halt the transfer of assets associated with Banco Master and its controller, Daniel Vorcaro. Judge Adler Batista Oliveira Nobre acknowledged the existence of evidence suggesting the misappropriation of billions from the bank to luxury assets controlled by Vorcaro and close associates. This decision responds to concerns raised by the EFB Regimes Especiais, the liquidator of Banco Master, who has identified a series of schemes involving resource embezzlement through investment funds and proxy individuals.
In the legal filings, the liquidator named several funds that have been implicated in these investigations as defendants, as they have allegedly facilitated the financial structures through which the resources of Banco Master, Vorcaro, and his partners flowed. Notably, these funds include Astralo 95, Termopilas, and Galo Forte, which have been previously scrutinized for their roles in the financial misconduct surrounding the bank. The mention of these entities further underscores the complicity of a broader network in the alleged financial improprieties.
The implications of this legal action are significant, as it not only aims to protect the bank's remaining assets but also sheds light on systemic issues within the financial practices involving Banco Master. The continued investigation by the Federal Police into related parties, including Super Empreendimentos, raises questions about the integrity of financial operations and regulatory oversight in Brazil’s banking sector, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and transparency in banking practices to prevent future abuses.
