The Little Girl Who Loved Matches Too Much is Coming to Keller Theater

A psychological drama based on Gaétan Soucy's novel will premiere at Keller Theater, exploring themes of innocence, cruelty, and personal reality.

Keller Theater is set to premiere a psychological drama titled 'The Little Girl Who Loved Matches Too Much,' based on the novel by Canadian writer Gaétan Soucy. Directed by Kersti Heinloo, the play follows two children who grow up in complete isolation following the death of their father, leading to the unraveling of their strictly controlled reality and the emergence of dark secrets.

The narrative delves into existential themes, highlighting the fragility of innocence, the cruelty born from ignorance, and the human need to construct a personal reality to survive. Director Kersti Heinloo expresses her interest in how individuals create their own realities to cope with life and what happens when these constructs break down.

Featuring performances by Lauli Koppelmaa, Sylvia Köster, Agur Seim, and Andres Roosileht, the production promises to challenge viewers' perceptions of truth and reality. With the artistic team including translator Triinu Tamm and sound designer Rai, this debut presents a compelling exploration of the psychological dimensions of human experience amid trauma and isolation.
