A tragic fire in a five-storey building in Palam, Delhi, resulted in the deaths of nine family members, including three children, and left three others seriously injured.

A devastating fire broke out in a five-storey building in the Palam area of Delhi on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of nine family members, including three children. The blaze was so intense that some residents attempted to escape by jumping from the building. Emergency services, including police and fire rescue teams, worked for hours to control the fire and rescue those trapped inside. Eyewitness accounts described chaos as residents poured out of the building in panic, with thick smoke billowing from the structure.

The authorities received reports of the fire around 7:04 AM, prompting immediate responses from police and fire departments. Upon arrival, they found an overwhelming scene of confusion, with residents in a state of distress. The building, located in a busy area, contained a clothing and cosmetic showroom on the ground and first floors, while the upper floors housed the family of the showroom owner, Rajendra Kashyap. The fire reportedly originated from the second or third floor, although the exact cause remains under investigation.

As the situation unfolded, rescue operations faced significant challenges due to the building's size and the rapid spread of the flames. Many of the victims were unable to escape in time, resulting in tragic fatalities. Meanwhile, three other individuals sustained severe burns and are currently undergoing treatment. This incident raises serious concerns regarding fire safety regulations in residential buildings, especially given its location in an area with dense population and commercial activity.
