Dhuraindhar 2 faces cuts from the censor board, objections to scenes of bloodshed
The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has proposed 21 cuts to the upcoming film Dhuraindhar 2, particularly focusing on reducing bloodshed.
The highly anticipated film Dhuraindhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, will be released soon after receiving an A certificate from the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is expected to be longer than its predecessor, with a runtime of approximately 229.6 minutes. The CBFC has raised several objections to the film's content, asking for cuts that include muting profanity, issuing warnings about drug scenes, and reducing violence. These recommendations aim to ensure that the film adheres to the guidelines for an A-rated movie in India.
The CBFC suggested significant reductions in violent scenes, demanding that the film be edited to remove 1 minute and 34 seconds of footage to comply with certification standards. In total, 21 cuts have been mandated, including changes to subtitles referencing the date of demonetization and the need to submit an official certificate for using references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The decision indicates that the censor board is taking a strict stance on violent content, particularly in light of the film's portrayal of aggression, as seen in the recently released trailer.
As the release date approaches, the modifications required by the CBFC have sparked discussions about censorship in Indian cinema. The trailer has already hinted at a more violent storyline compared to the first film, and with Ranveer Singh portraying a character full of aggression, the changes are sure to impact the audience's reception. The outcome of these edits may also reflect ongoing debates about the balance between creative freedom and regulatory standards in the film industry.
