The African football championship title was taken away a few months after the final
The Confederation of African Football has stripped Senegal of its title won in the African Cup of Nations final, awarding the championship to Morocco after a controversial match.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially stripped Senegal of their African Nations Cup title just two months after their dramatic final victory over Morocco. Originally, Senegal won the final held in January with a 1-0 score but this decision came about due to a chaotic conclusion to the game. During the final, the referee Jean-Jacques Ndala initially disallowed a goal from Senegal's Ismaila Sarr during stoppage time and controversially awarded a penalty to Morocco following a video review, which was a point of contention among Senegalese players who felt the officiating had favored Morocco.
