Sambhal: Action on 70 bighas of government land, crops planted, notices issued to residents
In Sambhal, a government team led by the Deputy Tehsildar removed illegal encroachments from 70 bighas of government land, destroying crops and serving notices to homeowners.
In a significant enforcement action in the village of Mehrana, Sambhal, a government revenue team led by Deputy Tehsildar Babloo Kumar successfully removed illegal encroachments from 70 bighas of government land. Following a complaint by local resident Ravi Raj, SDM Nidhi Patel ordered an investigation, uncovering 40 bighas of illegal farming and over a dozen permanent houses on the land. The immediate destruction of wheat crops that had been unlawfully planted on pasture and farmyard land was executed with the help of local police and the Rapid Reaction Force, causing a stir in the village.
The investigation revealed unsettling truths about the misuse of government records, which listed the pasture and barnyard land as available for community use, while it had been under private cultivation for years. Upon discovery, the Deputy Tehsildar ordered tractors to the site to uproot approximately 35 to 40 bighas of standing wheat crops. However, the permanent structures built on 15 bighas of land have not yet been demolished as the authorities have opted to issue notices to the owners, demanding explanations for their encroachments.
This operation showcased a significant response from the local administration following the resident's complaint and highlighted the ongoing issue of land encroachment in rural areas. The identified houses are now under scrutiny, and the authorities are poised to take further action against those who continue to violate land use regulations, reinforcing the message that illegal encroachments will not be tolerated.
