The State of Mexico has intensified its fight against crime through large-scale security operations, resulting in over 400 arrests and significant advancements in various areas of criminal activity.
In a concerted effort to enhance security and reduce crime in the State of Mexico, government officials have rolled out several macro operations, backed by ongoing collaboration in the Peace Table led by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez. Coordination among federal, state, and municipal authorities has led to over 400 arrests linked to serious crimes, showcasing the effectiveness of targeted law enforcement strategies. These operations are not only focused on conventional crime but also on corruption within public institutions.
Significant efforts have been marked by Operation Swarm, initiated in November 2024, aimed at tackling corruption and potential criminal ties within governmental structures. So far, this operation has led to the arrest of 60 individuals across 18 municipalities and secured 19 convictions against 17 key targets. This signifies a decisive action towards ensuring accountability in public service and deterring future corrupt practices.
Furthermore, operations addressing specific criminal activities reveal the multifaceted approach taken by the authorities. Operation Flow has targeted illicit water commerce, resulting in the seizure of 62 illegal wells and 138 clandestine water connections in 48 municipalities. Meanwhile, Operation Restitution is combatting the crime of dispossession, safeguarding 1,069 properties. Such comprehensive strategies indicate a robust commitment to not only improving public safety but also addressing systemic issues within the region.
