By unanimous decision, STF condemns two deputies and a former deputy of the PL for embezzlement of amendments
The Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil has unanimously convicted two current deputies and one former deputy for embezzling public funds designated for health amendments.
In a recent ruling, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil condemned two legislators and a former parliamentarian from the Liberal Party (PL) for participating in a scheme to redirect public funds earmarked for municipal health initiatives. The convicted individuals include federal deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho and Pastor Gil, along with former deputy Bosco Costa, all of whom were implicated in a broader criminal organization. The court found that these politicians, using their positions, solicited R$ 1.66 million in bribes from the municipality of São José de Ribamar, Maranhão, by promising nearly R$ 7 million in parliamentary amendments for the health sector.
