Kelowna restaurant broken into twice in 24 hours
Cecil's Perogies in Kelowna was targeted twice by thieves within 24 hours, resulting in significant damage and a police investigation.
Cecil's Perogies, a family-run restaurant located in Kelowna, experienced a troubling weekend after being broken into twice within a day. The first break-in occurred early on Saturday morning, with the owner, Jonathan Warwaruck, reporting that thieves smashed the front door and stole drinks. Unfortunately, the same establishment faced a second intrusion just 24 hours later, with more items taken and further damage inflicted on the restaurant's property.
Kelowna RCMP have already begun their investigation by collecting surveillance footage from the restaurant and neighboring businesses. Cpl. Steven Lang indicated that they have secured some video evidence and are collaborating with other local businesses to track down the suspect. Despite the relatively low value of stolen items, the cumulative damage has been significantly painful for the restaurant, including a shattered front window and internal destruction.
The repeated targeting of the restaurant highlights ongoing issues with theft and vandalism in the area, raising concerns among local business owners about safety and security measures. The quick police response and community cooperation, however, may help to resolve the matter and deter future incidents in the Kelowna business district.
