With bunker-busting munitions.. Washington bombs Iranian missile sites near the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Central Command announced the bombing of fortified Iranian missile sites near the Strait of Hormuz, citing threats to international navigation.

On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) reported that it had conducted bombings against fortified Iranian missile sites located along the Iranian coast near the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military utilized bunker-busting munitions weighing 5,000 pounds, highlighting their strategic objective of mitigating threats posed by the Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles at these sites. According to Centcom, these missiles were considered a risk to international maritime traffic in the vital waterway.

In a subsequent post on social media platform 'X', Centcom reiterated the scale of military operations being executed, indicating that U.S. Navy pilots had undertaken hundreds of combat air missions under Operation 'Epic Fury'. They emphasized America's unparalleled capability to achieve air superiority from the sea. Since the onset of the current conflict on February 28, Centcom has reported completing over 6,500 combat flight missions and targeting more than 7,000 objectives, alongside confirming damage to more than 100 Iranian vessels.

The U.S. military’s actions are framed as part of Operation 'Epic Fury', which aims to dismantle Iranian security mechanisms and target locations that pose a threat to regional stability. As tensions rise in the area due to the ongoing conflict, these military engagements signify a broader strategy by the U.S. to assert its presence and deter Iranian aggression in the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, a crucial pathway for global oil shipments and maritime security.
