The First Lot of Corn Auction Took Place in Córdoba

This Tuesday, the auction of the first corn lot organized by the Córdoba Grain Exchange took place, marking the beginning of this year’s harvest commercialization.

This Tuesday, a significant event in Argentine agriculture occurred with the auction of the first corn lot organized by the Córdoba Grain Exchange in collaboration with the Argentine Corn and Sorghum Association (MAIZAR). This marks the commencement of the commercialization phase for this year’s corn harvest, a pivotal moment for farmers and producers in the region. The auction represents a key opportunity for participants in the agriculture sector to engage in the market and capitalize on their harvests.

The winning bid was claimed by the company Arcor, who purchased the lot originating from Mercedes, Corrientes, for 500,000 pesos, with the bidding starting from a base of 245,000 pesos. This particular batch came from a total of 542 hectares planted with the NK SYN 505 VIP3 variety, yielding an estimated production of 7,000 kilos per hectare. The planting date was noted as August 10, 2025, and the anticipated harvest date is January 10, 2026. Such detailed information about the crop reinforces the importance of agricultural practices and market preparedness.

During the event, Laura Passerini, president of the Córdoba Grain Exchange, emphasized the necessity of adding more value to agricultural production and advocated for the definitive elimination of certain bureaucratic obstacles that hinder progress and efficiency in the industry. The auction not only highlights the active role of the Córdoba Grain Exchange in ensuring quality and compliance among producers but also serves as a reflection of the larger economic environment surrounding the Argentine agricultural sector, where value addition and efficiency remain essential for competitive sustenance.
