The new film 'The Only Way Out' by South Korean director Park Chan-wook will be shown for free in São Paulo, followed by a discussion with its screenwriter.

The new film 'The Only Way Out' directed by the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook is set to be screened for free on Tuesday, November 17, at Tuca Theater located in the Perdizes neighborhood of São Paulo. The session, starting at 7 PM, has around 80 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative is a collaboration between Cineclube Arlindo Machado at PUC-SP and the Koff (Korean Film Festival), which is celebrating its fourth edition, showcasing the growing interest in Korean cinema in Brazil.

After the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a debate featuring screenwriter and professor Rubens Rewald. The film stars Lee Byung-hun, known for his role as the villain in 'Round 6,' as a man who is laid off from his job at a paper company after 25 years. In a desperate bid to regain employment, he resorts to eliminating his competitors. This suspenseful narrative is adapted from the novel 'The Cut' by American writer Donald E. Westlake and reflects themes of desperation and moral ambiguity.

'The Only Way Out' premiered at the Venice Film Festival and has been showcased at various international film festivals, including the São Paulo International Film Festival, where it received three nominations for the Globo de Ouro. The film's screening in Brazil highlights the increasing cross-cultural exchange between South Korean cinema and the Brazilian audience, reinforcing the growing popularity and influence of international films in the local film landscape.
