Mohammed Al-Masfar: Arabs must send clear messages to America and Israel to stop the war
Political analyst Mohammed Al-Masfar calls for Arab nations to convey explicit messages to the United States and Israel to halt their military actions against Iran, emphasizing the lack of a unified Arab response.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Masfar, a political science professor at Qatar University, has highlighted the critical need for Arab nations to articulate clear and united messages to the United States and Israel, urging them to cease their military operations against Iran. He suggests that the ongoing war, which he views as a dangerous phase in regional conflicts, poses serious risks to the Gulf states and the broader Arab world. Al-Masfar believes that the threat is understated, as the focus tends to be on Iran's aggressive behaviors while ignoring the historical context of Israeli involvement in regional disputes.
In an interview, Al-Masfar criticized the lack of a meaningful Arab response to the escalating tensions, pointing out that there has been no substantial collective action from Arab leaders or ministries despite ongoing diplomatic efforts by countries such as Qatar and Oman to mediate the situation. He argued that this absence of a strong Arab stance only emboldens the aggressors and that recent statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, blaming Iran for regional instability, overlook Israel's contentious role in the ongoing conflicts.
Furthermore, Al-Masfar commented on the recent assassination of prominent Iranian figures, suggesting that rather than destabilizing the Iranian regime, these actions could result in even greater escalation. He posited that such targeted killings could give rise to new leadership within Iran that might adopt more aggressive positions, thereby exacerbating the existing crisis in the Middle East and posing a more significant threat to regional stability, which necessitates a proactive response from Arab states.
