After the success of the Youth World Cup, Wahbi renews partnership with Morocco's legend in the national team

Moroccan football association appoints Youssef Hajji as assistant coach for the senior national team led by Mohammed Wahbi.

On March 17, 2026, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced the appointment of Youssef Hajji to the new coaching staff of the national team. Hajji joins the coaching team of the Atlas Lions, which is led by Mohammed Wahbi, taking on the role of second assistant coach alongside first assistant João Sacremento from Portugal. This appointment follows Hajji's success as an assistant coach for the Moroccan youth team that won the World Cup in 2025.

The announcement also highlights that head coach Mohammed Wahbi will hold a press conference on Thursday to reveal the list of players invited for upcoming matches against Ecuador in Madrid on March 27 and Paraguay in Lens, France, on March 31, 2026. This is a significant step as the team prepares for these international fixtures, and the involvement of experienced coaching staff like Hajji is expected to enhance team performance.

Youssef Hajji brings a wealth of experience to the senior national team, having represented Morocco in 64 international matches and scoring 16 goals. He played a key role in leading the Atlas Lions to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004 and has also served as an assistant coach to Tarik Sektioui for the Moroccan Olympic team, contributing to a bronze medal achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Hajji's expertise and prior accomplishments bode well for Morocco's aspirations on the international stage.
