Gil Sodero de Toledo, born in the Vale do Paraíba region, developed a keen interest in geography during his childhood as his family traveled through the rural towns of São Paulo due to the repercussions of the 1930 Revolution. His fascination with geomorphology flourished as he explored these areas, which laid the foundation for his educational pursuits. Eventually, he moved to São Paulo to study geography at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he built a prominent academic career, establishing himself as one of the most brilliant and unconventional professors at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH).
