Fire on the Baltic Princess

A fire broke out in the sauna area on the Baltic Princess cruise ship while it was in Stockholm, but it was brought under control and did not cause any injuries.

A fire occurred on the Baltic Princess cruise ship, specifically in the sauna area on its second deck, on Tuesday around 4 PM Finnish time. At the time of the fire, the ship was docked in Stockholm, and according to Tallink Silja's communications director Marika Nöjd, it is scheduled to return to Turku at 7 PM Finnish time. The incident disrupted the cruise program for the day, leading to the cancellation of a pub quiz and a guest visit to Silja Land, as the program hostess was involved in security tasks.

The fire was reportedly brought under control and extinguished without any injuries to passengers or crew members. Following the incident, the Stockholm fire department and authorities conducted inspections to ensure that everything was safe on board. Nöjd assured the public that all should be in order post-incident, indicating an effective response to the situation.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and it is currently being investigated by the authorities. This incident has raised concerns about safety protocols on cruise ships and highlights the importance of continuous vigilance in maintaining safety standards, especially in recreational areas such as saunas which can pose higher risks if not properly managed.
